Walk the escape route
Physically travel from the room to a safe exit. Check that doors, stairs and corridors are visible, clear and usable. Never treat a lift as the fire escape.
Inspect electricity and heat sources
Look at wiring, sockets, charging areas, cooking areas and overload signs. Hanoi guidance stresses routine electrical checks and avoiding overnight charging on combustible materials.
Locate on-site equipment
Find alarms, extinguishers, emergency lights, rescue tools and instructions. Equipment only helps when accessible, maintained and understood.
Agree how to report an emergency
Save contacts for the owner, manager, security and emergency services. Families should agree a meeting point and support for children or older people.
